Electrical Inspection Services

Electrical inspection services involve the carrying out of periodic, preventive and statutory electrical inspections on electrical installations to analyse their safety, efficiency and compliance with electro-technical regulations, codes and standards. Electrical safety inspections are key to maintaining reliability and technical efficiency of electrical installations. The safety, reliability and technical efficiency are key to
permitting users to carry out their activities normally.

ATEX is a legal prerequisite for selling within the European Economic Area, but IEC Ex gives maximum international acceptance and, if feasible, most customers elect to have certificates for both schemes issued at the same time.

We have long been recognised as being at the forefront of international product certification within the IECEx Equipment Certification Scheme, having issued more certificates in this field than any other certification body in the world. We are also one of the major Notified Bodies in Europe for issuing the documentation required by the European ATEX Directive.

There are two parts to product certification:

  • Type Examination is the process of assessing, testing and defining the prototype or representative sample
  • Production QA, or Product Verification, are alternative ways of confirming that future production is identical to the ‘type’ that was assessed

LV Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.

  • Periodic electrical inspection and testing is necessary because all electrical installations deteriorate due to a number of factors, i.e. damage, wear & tear, corrosion, excessive electrical loading, ageing and environmental influences.
  • Legislation requires that electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition and therefore must be periodically inspected and tested.  Licensing authorities, public bodies, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and others may require periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations.
  • Periodic Inspection and Testing should be carried out by suitably qualified personnel on a regular basis, at least every 10 years for a domestic property and every 5 years for a commercial property.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

  • Portable Appliance Testing ensures that all portable electrical appliances are safely maintained and suitable for the environment in which they are used.
  • The IEE Code of Practice for In Service Inspection and Testing of Equipment sets out the standard to which each appliance is comprehensively tested.
  • Our highly trained electricians ensure that all testing and repairs are professionally carried out to the highest standards.
